A leading national parcel express operator, now seeks applications for the position of Depot Operations Manager overseeing the Monday - Friday team (5 Supervisors) from 8am - 5pm. The ideal individual will be a proven "People Manager" with exceptional interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities;
- Take responsibility for Health and Safety issues in conjunction with company Health and Safety guidelines.
- Ensuring all driver have received essential training.
- Ensure a smooth handover from Night shift through to morning despatch.
- Despatch of all drivers daily.
- Allocation of collections to drivers daily and follow up on same throughout the day.
- Maintain a list of any additional labels required by Couriers for oversize etc. Remuneration for same to be signed off weekly.
- Take responsibility for the despatch of high-value goods by implementing the agreed process.
- Minimise parcels entering problem freight area through close inspection of these parcels.
- Management of the problem freight area ensuring agreed processes are being followed through.
- Responsibility and follow up on all GLIT applicable to the Depot and on-charging to the relevant driver.
- Security scanning of selected drivers daily.
- Follow up on all domestic claims queries and achieve closure on same.
- Manage use of temporary employees through close monitoring, briefing and motivation to ensure performance criteria is met.
- Ensure all emails/calls are responded to in a timely fashion.
- Respond to daily reporting requirements and scheduling as necessary.
- Work with the customer service department on any issues or urgent parcels.
- Provide feedback on any resource concerns in a timely manner.
- Ensuring staff hours are updated weekly on the time management system and agency hours are sent to the relevant agency.
- Floor walking to ensure all best practice is being followed.
- Ensure a smooth handover of duties and any requests to the PM Supervisory team.
Key Requirements;
- Previous people-management experience with a particular emphasis on support, motivation and being the main conduit for issue resolution.
- Minimum 5 years experience at management level within a Transport, Distribution, Road Freight, Courier or Logistics company.
- Problem-solving and planning effective contingencies and solutions.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work on your own initiative, well organised to prioritize your workload.
- Flexible, can do attitude approach to work.
- Ability to communicate confidently at all levels.

Terms:
Full time, Permanent, Working hours 8am - 5pm, Monday - Friday
