Our client, a Cork based General Mechanical Services Contractor, are seeking an IT professional for their office located on the North side of Cork City. The successful candidate will be the main point of contact for all issues related to IT for the organisation. This would range from Supporting all Staff, Procurement, License Administration, User Administration, looking after Network infrastructure to name a few. It will be a responsible role with on-going training opportunities.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Maintain essential IT operations, including operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, email systems, laptops, desktops, phones, software, and hardware
  • Own projects, solutions, and key responsibilities within a larger business initiative
  • Handle business-critical IT tasks and systems administration
  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies, hardware, and software
  • Set up workstations with computers and necessary peripheral devices (routers, printers etc.
  • Install and configure appropriate software and functions according to specifications
  • Develop and maintain local networks in ways that optimize performance
  • Ensure security and privacy of networks and computer systems
  • Provide orientation and guidance to users on how to operate software and computer equipment
  • Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance without deterring others from completing their work
  • Perform troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems (repair or replace parts, debugging etc.
  • Maintain records/logs of repairs and fixes and maintenance schedule
  • Identify computer or network equipment shortages and place orders

 

Technical Skills:

 

  • Active Directory
  • Windows 10
  • VMware
  • Video conferencing software
  • Windows Server 2012 -2016
  • Office 365 Administration
  • LAN/WAN TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP

 

You must have a thorough knowledge of computer software and hardware and a variety of internet applications, networks, and operating systems. In addition to the above, experience with VMware, Altaro backup and Dell SonicWall would be an advantage.

The ideal candidate will also have great troubleshooting abilities and attention to detail. Knowledge of construction applications, such as the Autodesk Suite of software, and their hardware requirements would be advantageous.

The goal is to build and maintain updated and efficient computer systems and networks to optimize the role of technology on business sustainability.

 

 

Professional Experience & Qualifications:

 

  • Degree in Computer Science, engineering, or relevant field
  • Certification as IT Technician will be an advantage (e.g., CompTIA A+, N+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 admin centre.
  • Proven experience as IT Support Manager or relevant position
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Outstanding organizational and time-management skills
  • In depth understanding of diverse computer systems and networks
  • Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles

 

 

 

Type:

Permanent, Full time, Site-based, Monday-Friday, normalised office hours

 

Package: 

€50-55,000 DOE + Benefits
