The Ocean Freight Forwarder will be responsible for coordinating and managing the movement of ocean freight shipments, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with international trade regulations. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The Ocean Freight Forwarder will act as the key point of contact for customers, carriers, and internal stakeholders, ensuring that all shipments are handled efficiently and cost-effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Arrange and coordinate ocean freight shipments from origin to destination.
- Liaise with carriers, customs brokers, and other logistics providers to ensure smooth shipment flow.
- Monitor and track shipments, providing regular updates to customers and internal teams.
- Prepare and manage all required documentation, including Bills of Lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and customs documentation.
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, customs requirements, and company policies.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, addressing inquiries, providing quotes, and resolving any issues that arise during the shipping process.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, carriers, and other stakeholders.
- Negotiate rates with carriers and other service providers to ensure competitive pricing.
- Identify and resolve issues related to shipment delays, discrepancies, and other challenges.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance and competitive advantage.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, international business, or a related field is preferred.
- 2-4 years of experience in ocean freight forwarding, logistics, or a related field.
- Experience working with carriers, customers, and customs brokers.
