An excellent opportunity is now available to move your career forward by joining the Seafreight Forwarding team of a leading international freight forwarder. This is a very busy, fast moving role and expectations are high in order to deliver a professional and prompt service to customers. You will be part of a team responsible for the operational management of customers supply chain requirements by working on your own initiative and also being a key player in the Seafreight team to offer priority solutions in a timely and efficient manner to the end customers. 

Primary Responsibilities;

  • Overall responsibility for operational performance, including dealing with customs clearance/invoicing/creditors invoices/accruals/customer reports/other administration duties
  • Key Interface with customer accounts on all operational issues
  • Foster and develop good relations with both existing and potential customers to ensure retention and growth
  • Liaise with overseas partners to ensure the department is proactive in providing a quality operational performance to customers
  • Ensure all partners in the supply chain are working effectively and efficiently to ensure smooth operations
  • Escalate and communicate to stakeholders when appropriate
  • Utilise support structures to the best advantage of our customers needs – quality, process design, solutions, IT, Management
  • Arrange and propose cost effective solutions for inbound/outbound transportation whilst maintaining Client delivery performance
  • Management and maintenance of rates structures, tariffs, SOPs, KPIs etc.
  • Maintain a strong link between the internal and Client operational departments and drive ‘day to day’ operational improvements that benefit the customers
  • Develop, implement and deliver agreed business management reports to agreed timelines
  • Work closely with the Customer Solutions Teams in developing enhanced solutions and service offerings for customers
  • Comply with all Client GMP & GDP requirements.
  • Comply with all onsite Health & Safety requirements and guidelines
  • Maintaining and/or implementing good working practices and procedures to ensure that the department runs efficiently and with professionalism
  • Proactive participation and adherence to the Company's QSHE (Quality, Safety, Health & Environ) system
  • Delivering excellence in quality and customer service every time
  • Managing your performance via Key Performance Indicators as discussed with your manager
  • Pro­actively look for continuous improvement with the department to ultimately provide the customers with an efficient and professional service
  • Promote the client positively with customers through high quality of work, excellent communication, pro­active approach and positive attitude
  • Provide operational departmental cover where required
  • Other ad-­hoc responsibilities as required by you manager

Minimum Requirements;

  • 3+ years experience in Freight and Logistics operations and or commercial (multi modal) in a busy seafreight forwarding environment
  • Experience in a large / multinational company environment would be beneficial
  • Experience in driving improvements in operations
  • Strong analytical skills with exceptional eye for detail
  • Dynamic individual with excellent interpersonal skills and high levels of self­-motivation
  • Self starter with the ability to work on own initiative with minimum supervision
  • Ability to deliver in a fast moving/dynamic environment
  • Excellent organisational/time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Able to fulfil time­-critical tasks on time, keep schedules and date lines
  • Ability to influence and align business managers to ensure client is fully supported
