Our Client, a leading 3PL provider now requires a QHSE Manager to join their team on their customer site in Dublin 8. The prime function of this position is being responsible for the planning, implementing, and maintaining of various Quality, Health, Safety Environmental programs within the site, to ensure all employees' highest level of compliance is maintained.

The successful candidate is required to be the principal champion of all Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental controls for the Site, whilst leading the business in the continued improvement of all Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental performances amidst cultural and operational changes across the site.

This role monitors all EHS regulations and provides technical support and leadership to site managers to ensure compliance with internal standards ISO, and EU and Irish legislation within the company and for its customer while maintaining and further developing the culture across the site.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Delivery & implementation of a QHSE Strategy that drives sustainable improvement in performance.
  • To influence and engage at all levels to ensure QHSE receives appropriate focus and priority.
  • Further development of a culture that delivers a QHSE conscious workforce.
  • Assessment, review, and delivery of the necessary QHSE capabilities and organisational structures that ensure EHS is effectively managed.
  • Work with site Functional leads to identify and implement priority programs.
  • Drive continuous improvement through external benchmarking.
  • Further develop relationships with regulatory bodies and ensure continued compliance to legal requirements.
  • Provide direction and make decisions regarding all site safety and environmental activities.
  • Work together with the site safety team to identify and mitigate site risks.
  • Serve as a liaison for regulatory agencies.
  • Track & report Governance critical metrics (Environmental, Risk, and Health)
  • Conduct plant safety, health, and environmental inspections and on-the-job coaching with operations team members.
  • Conduct site construction safety inspections.
  • Ensure full compliance and adherence to site environmental permits.
  • Training program delivery and implementation. Includes new hire safety training and annual refresher training for all employees on various safety and environmental topics.
  • Maintain contractor safety programs, including the qualification process, orientation, and safety compliance.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to the site to enhance employee safety engagement.
  • Maintain OSHA logs.
  • Support and drive the Behaviour Based Safety Program for the site.
  • Conduct risk assessments and recommend risk reduction and control strategies to site leadership.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for incidents, accidents, and near misses. Provide corrective actions and lessons learned at the site and corporate level.
  • Lead and ensure adherence to the internal audit program schedule.
  • Roll out/embed critical safety and environmental programs throughout site processes and infrastructure, including Zero Harm, SFIP, NFPA, and OSHA DISCUS. 
  • Implement continuous improvement programs related to health, safety, and the environment.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of professional related experience in a relevant production environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental related fields
  • Chartered Membership of IOSH would be an advantage.
  • Certified Safety Professional preferred
  • An in-depth knowledge of the relevant legislation is required.
  • The individual should have experience of risk assessment, auditing, project management and incident investigation processes.
  • Ability to oversee QHSE management systems in production and construction environments, including identification, assessment, control, crisis management, and business recovery plan.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and auditing skills.
  • Vital planning, organisational, and follow-up skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Systems & procedures development and implementation
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, legislations regulations, nationally recognized standards, and guidelines for specialised Quality, Health, Safety Environmental as required.
  • The role will be predominantly based at the Dublin site; however, flexibility will be required to conduct site visits to other sites as the role develops. The role currently has no direct reports but may periodically have consultants or temporary resources to manage directly on specific initiatives.
