Our client, a leading logistics provider now seeks to hire a Transport Manager based in Dublin 8.
The prime function of this position is to work with the existing team to ensure that the targets are met on a day-to-day basis. You will be responsible for operating technical equipment, optimising loading for efficient logistics and supporting other retail functions to ensure optimal operation of the business.
This is a hands-on role, ideal for a person who has previous senior management experience in a busy environment. You will be tasked to oversee delivery in the organisation and oversee the smooth running of the retail operation. You will support with the management of deliveries while also providing up to date information both internally and externally, ensuring all requirements are met. You must deliver and adhere to an organisation’s business values. As a Transport Manager, you will also oversee and maintain a good relationship with the staff, whilst promoting a culture where H&S and customer service is a priority.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Overall Management of Planners and Customer Service dept within Retail Office Staff.
- Control and management of the Fuelling System across Dublin Sites.
- Management of Trunking from the site
- Fleet Compliance.
- Develop and multi skilling all key staff to be familiar in both planning and Customer Service duties to manage absence from the Office.
- Singular point of contact for our Retail and Customer Service relationship with the customer
- Manage and control of all costs related to the fleet.
- Raising PO’s to 3pl suppliers.
- Control of Retail Payroll & Holiday Entitlements through TMS.
- Utilisation on resources vs Numbers of Trucks.
- Fleet Compliance such as driver hours/ tachograph hours/ CVRT.
- Innovation support Microlise/ Truck file/ POD capture on glass.
- Health & Safety & Accident Reporting of all Retail.
- Management of LA loaders and their schedule & any loading errors.
- Meet business KPI’s.
- Adhere to organisation’s business values and quality and customer service standards.
- Ensure that all instructions from our customer are carried out accurately and efficiently.
- Assist with the effective management of staff and training etc.
- Mentoring and coaching of staff in best customer service & delivery practices and performance.
- Reporting issues and concerns to senior management & our customer.
Minimum Requirements:
- Candidates must have 5 years Senior Transport Planning or Transport Manager role.
- Proficient in use of SAP, Excel, and other MS packages
- Can communicate clearly and effectively.
- Work under tight deadlines to communicate with our customer.
- Possess strong leadership skills.
- Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility regarding work hours and willingness to travel for work purposes.
- Energy and enthusiasm with an ability to work on own initiative
- Strong work ethic with a willingness to learn
Terms:
Permanent, Full-time
Mon - Fri & Saturday after bank holiday.
