Dublin City Centre based Freight forwarding company now seeks to hire a Transport Planner, to plan and arrange the day-to-day transport requirements of the company including general haulage and bulk haulage. Also, to oversee the administration of jobs, including the timely invoicing of same – this will be done in conjunction with another member of staff.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Schedule and co-ordinate equipment and sub-contractors to undertake collections and deliveries to customers – ex Dublin, Cork and Belfast.
  • Arrange necessary documentation / releases etc. for our sub-contractors.
  • Ensuring that job files are open in Azyra for each delivery / collection.
  • Monitor timekeeping and performance of sub-contractors during the day. 
  • Record all bulk delivery details – time in/out, if full and complete bulk deliveries and weight are recorded.
  • Reporting in real time to our clients of any unexpected delays or change in delivery, especially if there is a cost implication that they need to be aware of and agreed to (i.e.. Waiting time, weekend deliveries etc).
  • Ensuring that all drivers complete their relevant paperwork correctly for return to you.
  • Any issues that you are unable to resolve must be escalated to your manager for guidance.
  • Any ad hoc tasks or projects that need to be done.
  • Admin , invoicing

Minimum Requirements

  • Previous Route Planning experience
  • Highly motivated
  • Skilled in organising, prioritising, and scheduling
  • Ability to multi-task and meet transport deadlines
  • Problem solving skills in a crisis
  • Hands on attitude, which may involve assisting colleagues with tasks if necessary
  • Working knowledge of MS Excel spreadsheet software
  • Working knowledge of Outlook, PowerPoint and Microsoft Word
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
