Higher Certificate in Business in Logistics and Supply Chain Management >>more
The Institute of Technology Carlow awards are open to professionals who wish to further their knowledge in the areas of business, logistics and supply chain management. The course is designed for participants who currently work in the industry but do not have the necessary academic achievements to progress their career. Students come from a variety of backgrounds across the logistics, supply chain and transport areas. Lecturers are Industry Professionals who give real life case studies and examples during class as well as the academic knowledge to underpin learning experience. The Higher Certificate is open to all individuals regardless of experience, we welcome those new to the industry looking to pursue a new career. An Exit Award (Minor Certificate) is available to those who only complete Year 1.

The Level 7 Degree is a ONE YEAR, PART-TIME, ADD ON programme run in conjunction with IT Carlow or the National Maritime College of Ireland (NMCI) part of Cork IT. Students who have successfully completed the old two year CILT Diploma/Higher Certificate in Business, Logistics & Supply Chain Management are eligible to apply for this programme (The programme is not restricted to CILT graduates only). Students who have gained a recognised qualification from another Institute are also eligible to apply. IT Carlow classes are based in Griffith College Dublin on Saturdays with one Online Module. NMCI classes are based in Ringaskiddy Co Cork on Saturdays and one evening during the week.

The Certificate in International Trade awarded by the Irish Exporters Association is a new initiative for 2019. It is the only course of its kind in Ireland to unite the practical and operational aspects of international trading. The Certificate is not academic, it aims to promote practical on the job learning, to meet the growing skillset required for anyone working in international trade operations and regulations and to understand the key issues affecting the industry.

This course is a business honours degree with a major specialisation in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. It consists of three strands: Logistics and Supply Chain Management (SCM), Business Management, and Information Management. The course will introduce you to business and management, with a focus on the function of the supply chain and develop your ability to apply SCM and business processes and functions to actual logistics and SCM scenarios. It will also introduce you to the basic concepts and functional areas of SCM and to place these in the overall context of the strategic objectives of the organisation. FIATA Diploma in Freight Forwarding >>more
The IIFA FIATA Diploma in Freight Forwarding is an internationally recognised qualification covering the cornerstones of the Freight Forwarding and international Supply Chain industry.
Over a ten month period (September – June each year), Participants are posted 10 training manuals on different areas of Freight Forwarding (Air Freight, Sea Freight, Customs Clearance, Dangerous Goods etc.) and are given between 3 – 4 weeks to study each module. Throughout that month study aids in the form of online videos (available to view on-demand) and assignments are also made available via e-mail. At the end of each month participants then take an online multiple-choice test. At the end of the 10 modules there will be a break of 3 – 4 weeks before a Final Examination, which will take the form of a 3-hour written test, held in Dublin.
Course material is updated annually and is validated by FIATA, the International Federation of Freight Forwarders’ Associations, and is administered by IIFA Staff with QQI Level 6 Training Delivery & Evaluation qualifications.
IIFA Customs Awareness & Practical SAD Completion Course <<more
Split into two parts, this course is designed by professional Customs Brokers in order to raise awareness and understanding within the industry of the role and importance of Customs and how to interface with Customs.
Section A covers an academic Awareness program which will assist Management and Staff to develop and implement practical steps within their companies to deal with BREXIT. Section A also includes an extensive and up-to-date training manual, access to two on-demand webinars and telephone support. Participants are required to complete an assignment (based on TARIC database use and Duty + VAT calculations) and online test to ensure that material is learned and not just consumed.
Section B, the Practical SAD Completion Course, is essential for any company planning to perform Import or Export Customs Declarations. This section features training on practical completion of Customs entries using live software but also aims to install an understanding of rules and regulations behind the Customs procedures. Section B will also features a separate assignment, focused on using Customs Clearance software provided by Thyme-IT.
Introduction to Freight Forwarding >>more
The Introduction to Freight Forwarding course delivers a light touch introduction to the Industry. Participants gain an understanding how the Industry works, how each section operates and how they then all connect. This will the ninth offering of this programme which has proved very popular with IIFA Members with over 170 taking part across the previous 8 groups.
Participants will have access to the learning material in a self-paced manner and through a blend of learning resources, over a period of 12 weeks.

The Certified in Planning and Inventory Management (CPIM) from the American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) up to the end of December 2022 was made up of the CPIM Part 1 course and exam, and the CPIM Part 2 course and exam, and from the 1st January 2023 these are being replaced by CPIM Version 8.0 course and exam. The new CPIM Version 8.0 is bringing together the CPIM Part 1 and Part 2 courses, and has the added benefit of just one exam to achieve your Certification in Planning and Inventory Management (CPIM).

The ICS Foundation Diploma is principally intended for those who are new to the industry. The Foundation Diploma (FD) comprises just two subjects: Introduction to Shipping and one of the Group 2 subjects of the students’ choice.
Professional Qualifying Examinations >>more
The Professional Qualifying Examination (PQE) provides a thorough understanding of shipping business for the ambitious professional and all successful candidates should go on to be Members and eventually Fellows of the Institute. The qualifying examination is made up of 16 subjects split into 3 groups. Students have to sit and pass a total of 7 subjects to qualify for Institute membership. The subjects must include: All four subjects in Group 1; at least one subject from Group 2; and any two other subjects from the list of Optional Papers (Groups 2 and Group 3 subjects). The Institute allows a student 5 years from the date they first register with the ICS to complete all subjects required for qualification. However, they must attempt at least 2 subjects in the first year, including the compulsory subject, Shipping Business. After the first year, students may attempt as many subjects as they wish at each sitting but they must pass the seven subjects within the five year period. If they fail a particular subject, it may be retaken the following year.
Advanced Diploma >>more
The Advanced Diploma has been designed as a stepping stone into full professional qualification and suits those who have some industry knowledge. Like the Foundation Diploma, the Advanced Diploma is a recognised and respected qualification. It involves taking the ICS benchmark paper Shipping Business plus one other subject from the list of Optional Papers (Group 2 or Group 3 subjects) of the ICS syllabus.

Logistics Associate Apprenticeship (QQI Level 6 programme) >>more
The Logistics Associate Apprenticeship provides academic Education and practical training across the Freight, Logistics, Shipping and Distribution industries. Apprentices enter a contact of 2 years duration, where they will work with an Employer and spent one day a week with Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin) or Munster Technological University (MTU) for their academic studies. Completion of this programme will lead to a Level 6 Award on the National Framework of Qualifications.

MSc in Procurement & Supply Chain Management (QQI Level 9) >>more
Recent winner of the ‘Excellence in Education & Training’ category at the 2019 National Procurement Awards, Griffith College’s MSc in Procurement and Supply Chain Management is a QQI validated, NFQ Level 9 course.
This course is designed for procurement and supply chain professionals who have completed an honour level bachelor’s degree in business, procurement or supply chain-related discipline, or, alternatively, for applicants with significant experience in the area.
Griffith College has two intakes per year in Spring and in Autumn and the course is available on a full and part-time basis over a 1 or 2 year period. The majority of the lecturing staff currently work in the industry, meaning they have deep industry knowledge of both public and private sector procurement and supply chain management. Students of the course are consequently equipped with the skills required for a successful career in the procurement, purchasing and supply chain management fields.
