A long-established multi-site freight forwarder based in South Dublin now seeks an experienced Air Freight Forwarder. Your primary responsibility is to ensure that goods are shipped out of the country smoothly and on time. Your day-to-day duties will involve a variety of tasks such as preparing shipping documents, cutting AWBs, arranging air freight transportation, negotiating rates with carriers, and tracking shipments to monitor progress and ensure timely delivery. 

You will also be responsible for preparing customs declarations and ensuring that all legal and regulatory requirements are met, such as verifying that the goods being shipped are not restricted or prohibited. 

In addition to these specific tasks, you will need to have good communication skills, as you will be in regular contact with customers, suppliers, and carriers, and will be expected to provide updates and resolve any issues that arise in a timely and efficient manner.

Key Duties:

  • Preparing export declarations and related documentation
  • Liaising with clients, freight forwarders and other personnel
  • Booking shipments with airlines, carriers and freight forwarders
  • Arranging collection of goods from suppliers
  • Checking and verifying customs documentation
  • Making payments to suppliers and other parties
  • Tracking and tracing shipments
  • Providing customer service and support

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum of three years air freight forwarding operations experience within a busy forwarder.
  • Knowledge of air freight services and carriers
  • Proficiency with computers and computer software (Cargowise is ideal)
  • Good knowledge of customs regulations with ability to arrange customs clearance
  • Ability to interpret export and import regulations
  • Working knowledge of IATA regulations
  • Ability to calculate freight costs and issue quotations
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple shipments simultaneously
  • Ability to negotiate with airlines and suppliers
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Highly organised and enthusiastic
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of international shipping and logistics
  • Good communication and negotiation skills
