A well-known logistics brand now seeks a Business Development Manager with experience and knowledge of the European Groupage market in Ireland, UK and Europe. Reporting to the Commercial Director, you will be responsible for driving business growth for the European groupage product and will be required to develop a network of contacts to acquire new customers and new market opportunities.

Core Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Identify new business opportunities, including new markets, new clients, and new partnerships.
  • Possess a strong understanding of the company’s products and services, the competition in the industry and its positioning.
  • Understand the requirements of the companies target audience. Building relationships with new clients, gauging their requirements, negotiating prices, and developing proposals.
  • Work closely with the operations and planning team to ensure that we meet the customers’ need in service quality and reporting.
  • Pitching of company’s products and services to new and existing clients.
  • Creating a sales pipeline with a sales forecast and working with the Commercial Director.
  • Fostering and developing relationships with current clients.
  • Understand the needs of your customers and be able to respond effectively with a plan of how to meet these.
  • Think strategically - seeing the bigger picture and setting aims and objectives to develop, improve and grow the revenue and brand recognition of the business.
  • Work strategically - carrying out necessary planning to implement operational changes.
  • Planning and preparation of customer/client presentations.
  • Work with the finance, transport, and warehousing teams.
  • Attending conferences and events to build relationships with industry partners and staying up to date with new trends.

Essential Experience & Skills:

  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years’ experience within a similar role in the freight industry with recent knowledge of the Irish, UK and European groupage markets.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets in the transport industry.
  • Strong communication & Negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of the groupage business within the Irish haulage and logistics industry.
  • 3rd level qualification preferably in logistics, transport, or supply chain.
  • Strong English verbal and written communication.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and experience of CRM Tools.
  • Initiative and good decision-making skills.
  • Project management skills.
  • The capacity to analyse sales figures and write reports.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Full driving license.
