A global leader in shipping and logistics now seeks an experienced Short Sea Freight Business Development Manager. You will be responsible for identifying business opportunities and developing customer relationships with clients across a range of sectors to ensure long-term volume growth. The role is responsible for client management to maximise potential and working closely with the customer service team to ensure a smooth transition of accounts.  

It is a key requirement to manage and work effectively with all other members of the commercial and trade teams to maximise the success of attracting and maintaining throughput across trade areas as well as communicating and reporting as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Achieve budget targets on revenue and volume for relevant accounts.
  • Manage Business pipeline to increase sales.
  • Identify new business opportunities and follow up new sales leads to secure the success of the business.
  • Establish and maintain excellent customer relationships to ensure they achieve an optimum throughput from each individual customer including regular visits to customer’s own premises.
  • Develop effective methods of reporting and analysing revenue and volume and ensure any customer issues are dealt with in a timely way and communicated to relevant personnel.
  • Assist in the marketing and PR of the company by representing the company at relevant functions, workshops, and exhibitions.
  • Ensure the smooth transition of accounts to the customer service team through good communication both internally and externally.
  • Create and promote a customer-service culture across the business by working closely with colleagues across the group on issues and opportunities.

Key Requirements:

  • Business graduate or experienced sales manager within the shipping or ocean forwarding industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of short sea shipping / EU Ro/Ro Markets.
  • Extensive knowledge of the trailer market in Ireland & EU.
  • Technical skills in developing specialist supply chain networks.
  • Demonstrated experience in sales environment.
  • Front-line account visit experience.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven development skills ie, sales and marketing planning.
  • Adaptable, flexible, and solutions-driven with sound decision-making skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • A full clean driving Licence is essential.

Full-time, permanent
