A long-established pharmaceutical company now seek an experienced Customs & Trade Compliance Specialist. You will assist the Operations Manager & Trade Analyst in reducing the number of queries by utilising your extensive experience to identify and resolve common occurrences.
Core Responsibilities;
- Monitor shipment plan in the TMS
- Provide pre-clearance instructions to the 4PL customs broker and 3PL transporter for upcoming movements.
- Source and review supplier documentation, ensuring adherence to the agreed Incoterms, VAT rules, tariff classification and origin requirements as applicable.
- Generate documentation ensuring adherence to agreed Incoterms, VAT rules, tariff classification and origin requirements as applicable.
- Provide documentation and liaise with Customs Brokers to ensure the compliant and timely processing of customs clearances.
- Resolve and/or escalate any issues with customs clearance in conjunction with the Transport team, 3PL Transporter and 4PL Customs broker.
- Resolve and/or escalate any issues with master data to the appropriate channels
- Manage the relationship between 3PL transporter and 4PL customs broker to ensure no delays or additional costs as a result of late or non-compliant
- documentation.
- Maintain awareness of the documentary and customs requirements for each transport lane and implement them accordingly.
Skills & Knowledge:
- A minimum of 5 years customs and trade compliance experience.
- Strong working knowledge the following;
- Customs Import / Export procedures
- Customs flows and documentary requirements
- Incoterms & Tariff classifications
- Transits
- Eur1 and ATR1
- Origin Rules
- Verification of Conformity (VoC)
- Certificates of Origin, Invoice declarations and Approved Supplier
- REX – Registered Exporter system requirements
- Customs Invoices
- Basic knowledge of VAT Rules
- Customs Warehousing
- Inward Processing
- Duty Payment methods
- Application of additional codes e.g. Reach legislation
- Excellent ability to communicate confidently with multiple stakeholders
- Ability to develop and manage strong relationships
- Good TMS systems experience
