Job purpose
To successfully plan all Ireland distribution and collection of Lombard Ltd UK & European Groupage and FTL Freight, whilst responsible for the activities and allocation of work for subcontractors, owner-drivers and Lombard Drivers.
Main Responsibilities
- Plan and route daily deliveries using Azyra, ensuring schedules and resources are met
- Track vehicles and manage driver availability
- Create manifests and prepare delivery/collection documentation
- Coordinate with drivers, subcontractors, and regional carriers
- Handle discrepancies, damages, and customs clearance (UK/non-EU consignments)
- Monitor driver departures, working hours, and performance KPIs
- Provide troubleshooting support and adjust delivery plans as needed
- Manage customer queries and assist with ad-hoc quoting
- Maintain accurate records, invoicing, and POD tracking (manual and automated)
- Follow up on missing PODs and resolve subcontractor issues
- Conduct driver debriefs and process collection bookings and releases
- Support additional delivery planning and operational needs
- Ensure clear communication across teams and shifts
- Identify and drive process improvements
- Participate in out-of-hours rota and general operational duties
Requirements
- At least one year of experience as a Transport planner
- Azyra's experience is an advantage
- Ability to work in a small team with minimal supervision, in addition to having experience in establishing strong working relationships with colleagues from other areas.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills
- Be able to work to tight deadlines and prioritise
- Ability to multitask with a calm and flexible approach
- Excellent communication and people skills with the confidence to direct and motivate others
- The ability to work calmly under pressure
