Long-established Meath-based freight forwarder now seek a European Groupage Operator. You will become part of a customer-focused road freight operations team specialising in domestic and international Groupage market. This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to grow their career in customs & transport and develop a commercial understanding of the industry. The position will initially be based in the Meath office but will become hybrid based working from home with some flexibility required to attend meetings at their other office locations when required. 

The European Road Freight Operator will be responsible for planning transport with consolidators along with any associated administrative tasks ensuring the clients needs are continually met. 

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Work with overseas agents & clients in a remote setting
  • Planning of transport jobs in Azyra
  • Completing and validating Customs compliant documentation
  • Liaise with carriers & customers for shipping information & documentation 
  • Life cycle job management ensuring all correspondence is followed up and resolved
  • Support the Operations & Freight Forwarding teams in customs related matters.
  • Creating invoices for month-end billing for customers.  
  • Interface with Carriers and Information providers to ensure all required information is received.  
  • Provide completed Customs documentation to the Customer.  
  • Assist in Customer documentation testing where applicable.  
  • Assist in other functions within Operations on a project basis, when/if required

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year in a European Road Freight Forwarding role within a busy forwarder
  • A qualification and experience in Customs Clearance is an advantage but not essential
  • Strong PC Skills such as MS Office with knowledge of Azyra and ideally also with Thyme IT as distinct advantage
  • Customer focused
  • Experience as working part of a team
  • Curious, motivated and ability to work on your own initiative
  • Excellent communication and administration skills.  
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Professional and focused approach with a high level to attention and detail.  
  • Attention to analytics and conformance with defined procedures in tight timelines.  
  • Excellent organisational skills and capable of working at a fast pace 
  • Customer focused with a desire to always strive for excellence.  
  • Positive ‘can do’ attitude and highly ambitious approach.  
  • Increased level of flexibility to meet timelines on reporting.  
  • Flexibility to work weekends, on a rotational basis (not a common occurrence)  
  • Willingness to learn and accept responsibility

Terms
Full-time permanent, Office based but moving to hybrid, Monday to Friday - 09:00 to 17:30 Hrs
