A fantastic opportunity has become available for an experienced multi-modal Team Leader within a Global International Freight & Logistics company based in Dublin North. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, dynamic with Team Lead experience within the freight forwarding industry being essential. 

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has experience in the management of cargo shipments through supply chain, including arranging freight pick-up, tracking shipments and troubleshooting problems until reaching final destination. The successful candidate will lead and manage the planning team ensuring efficient operational execution across all key shipping lanes while providing line management and coaching to the team executing day to day activities ensuring the highest standards of service are consistently delivered. To ensure system back office processes function efficiently and that alignment with other internal departments (e.g. Admin) are effectively executed. Building close and consistent relationships with the customer, to respond to their needs and anticipate change as well as troubleshoot any problems encountered. 

Primary Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Direct line management of Ireland planning team
  • Collaboration with other internal team to ensure efficient operations (customs, admin)
  • Inspire, encourage, coach and enable team
  • Provide direction and communication to team
  • Train new employees on all procedures and systems
  • Training card maintenance
  • To lead operational execution of controlled freight lanes
  • To support customer with ad hoc requests across all freight modes.
  • Ensure the smooth, efficient and cost efficient flow of client goods with minimal impact on current processes
  • To support and maintain internal process controls and audits (continuous improvement cycle)
  • Maintain ERP system with accurate information - put in place checks where required
  • Ensure customer invoices are completed accurately and issued within in agreed time-frames
  • Solution design/optimisation – find creative solutions to customer challenges
  • Team supervision and motivation
  • Investigating any service or operational failures and implementing preventive actions.
  • Identify and evaluate potential risks and work with colleagues to develop solutions to overcome and avoid
  • Challenging existing working practices and methods to find better ways of working, to continually improve
  • Coordinate with key internal stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of required steps
  • Holding regular meetings with team to ensure key priorities are met and service levels delivered.
  • Ensure timely and clear communications to customers so as to ensure effective outcomes

Minimum Requirements:

  • Substantial experience of working within operations within the freight forwarding industry, the primary focus being ocean freight forwarding. 
  • Knowledge of operational processes (Import, Export)
  • An unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction
  • Experience of managing new teams and coaching, developing staff
  • Experience of training staff members in new processes
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience of managing within a broad range of people
  • Excellent written and verbal communications
