A busy European Import freight specialist based in Dublin 11 now seeks an Operations Manager to assist the business owners with its future growth. The business has excellent agency representation in Europe that facilitates up to 20 import movements a week. As a key member of the management team, you will be responsible for the operational performance of a small team of seven staff.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Work to a high-quality operating plan and operating budget.
  • Make operational and commercial decisions to advance the business and increase profits.
  • Identify commercial opportunities, issue quotations and follow up.
  • Ensure that freight management system data is correct with regard to activities and costs.
  • Generate operational reports for management to assist in identifying success or improvements needed.
  • Build trust relations with key partners and stakeholders and act as a point of contact for important stakeholders.
  • Ensure that adequate resources are available to manage the workload at all times.
  • Lead and motivate to advance employee engagement and develop a high-performing and engaged team.
  • Provide feedback, instruction, and development guidance to help others excel.
  • Ensure adherence to legal guidelines and policies to maintain the company’s legality and business ethics.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of five years freight industry experience within European import Road or Container Freight.
  • Previous experience as a senior forwarding operator who can mentor and develop a small operations team.
  • A commercial mindset with the ability to identify opportunities and close profitable deals.
  • An Operational Excellence mindset with strong organizational, leadership and coaching skills
  • Experienced in profit and loss management, budgeting etc.
  • Experienced in developing profitable operations strategies, implementing a vision and driving continuous improvement.
  • Ability to build consensus, confidence, trust and strong relationships with team members, colleagues and customers.
  • In-depth knowledge of local corporate governance and compliance legislation
  • Strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to cope with conflict, stress, and crisis situations in a calm manner
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

Full-time permanent, office-based
