General Manager, Contract Logistics 

One of the most exciting opportunities I am currently working on, this General Manager position is with one of the world's largest Logistics companies' which is now launching a brand new site in Dublin North and seeking an excellent People Manager to launch and run the site. This includes getting on board in advance of the launch to recruit your team and set the foundations for an exciting new future with excellent financial backing.  

You will hold overall responsibility for the whole site and its operational activities, including service and financial performance, ensuring that Company and health and safety policies and procedures are applied and adhered to at all times. Regular communications with the Customer will be a major part of this role and Customer satisfaction will be paramount. 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • In addition to the main duties and responsibilities listed below the General Manager will be expected to perform other duties commensurate with their skills and abilities.
  • Develop and maintain a working relationship with the customer and their associates ensuring that agreed Quality and Performance standards are achieved at all times.
  • Fully understand customer requirements and adopt an approach that will ensure that customers’ needs are met and exceeded, through regular contact and communication with the customer, managing close internal and external customer relationships.
  • Setting and adherence to agreed budget levels.
  • Analyse and understand Health & Safety related risks and take action to reduce or eliminate these risks according to a prioritised plan alongside driving a safety culture. Ensure that all legal requirements are met.
  • Responsible for the management, motivation and development of the on site management team, ensuring and maintaining open communication on a day to day basis.
  • Objective setting of realistic and demanding KPI's, actively seeking ways of improving efficiency, performance and reducing costs throughout the whole site.
  • Develop and maintain a culture of continuous improvement in all site operations.
  • Ensure effective resource planning and management to meet customer and business requirements.
  • Ensure all legislative and general training requirements are completed effectively and in good time. 
  • Ensure compliance with all Company operating and administrative procedures.
  • Ensure that all inbound, outbound and internal stock movement processes are recorded and reported accurately, compliantly and on a timely basis within the Relevant Warehouse Management System.
  • Ensure compliance to all required submissions of daily, weekly, monthly documentation.
  • Ensure overall stock is controlled and discrepancies are within the agreed tolerances. 
  • Development and implementation of a site Succession Plan and ensure ongoing people development planning via the appraisal process and regular 1To1’s.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 5 Years experience at General Manager level within a Contract Logistics & Distribution environment in Ireland. 
  • Microsoft Office (advanced level)
  • Employment Law knowledge
  • Experience in Bonded Warehouse Systems
  • Budget setting and finance control
  • Understanding of WMS and DMS systems 
  • Operational warehouse management skills
  • Communication and relationship building at all levels (Customer, Revenue, Management, Operations).
  • Ability to lead, direct and motivate across all departments.
  • Development of Management roles within the site succession plan.

Terms:        Full time, Permanent

Package:    Negotiable basic salary, Life Assurance, Bonus, Contributory pension, 25 days holidays etc.
