Established international freight and logistics company now seek to hire a General Manager for their FMCG retail account, high volume, logistics center in South Dublin. This role will evolve providing leadership and management to the business taking full responsible for the day- to-day running of the site. Focusing on the developing future growth opportunities and playing a leading role in the development of site management and operational colleagues.
As a key member of the Senior Management Team, you will be responsible for implementation of the site plan, Operational structures and site/customer specific procedures as determined by the Senior Management Team. In addition, the General Manager is responsible for ensuring that the site meets performance standards set in the key result areas of the business.
The operation can be summarised as follows;
- 350,000 sq. ft. warehouse
- 200 staff (perm and temps)
- Processing 13,000 orders per year
- Operating 06:00 Hrs to 12:30 Hrs over two shifts Mon-Fri and on weekends when required
Key tasks and responsibilities;
- Ensuring that the site implements effective and efficient management of all operating systems and procedures in line with the Company’s guidelines.
- Ensuring that the performance of the site in the key result areas is monitored and reviewed on an ongoing basis and that remedial action is taken to deal with unsatisfactory results.
- Ensuring that all buildings and equipment are maintained to maximise their value and comply with current legal and safety requirements.
- To promote, support and implement the site continuous improvement program/s.
- Ensuring the efficient management of the Site’s financial accounts and the implementation of effective financial control procedures in line with Company guidelines, maintaining effective liaison with the Regional Contract Accountant. The control of all overhead budgets for the Site including employment, fleet and other overhead costs to maximise profitability in line with the Site’s business plans.
- Overseeing the recruitment, training, development and discipline of all personnel employed at the site, maintaining appropriate liaison with the Company’s HR department.
- Ensuring that all employees in the site work to the required standards of the Company and are assessed through regular performance reviews. Monitoring, on an ongoing basis, the performance of all direct reports, and undertake regular reviews in accordance with the Company’s procedures. In addition to ensure that, the employee engagement concept is known as the People Plan/appraisal system is embedded and practiced within the site.
- Maintaining an effective chain of communication with Site Management Team to ensure operational and financial performance is reviewed on a regular basis, by encompassing daily, weekly and monthly meetings. Establish a clear concept of proactive management to mitigate all risks associated with customers on site.
- Ensuring that there is regular communication through team briefings with all employees in the site in order that they are made aware of national and local developments affecting the Company.
- To promote, support and implement the site continuous improvement program/s.
- Maintaining an effective chain of communication with Site Management Team to ensure operational and financial performance is reviewed on a regular basis, by encompassing daily, weekly and monthly meetings. Establish a clear concept of proactive management to mitigate all risks associated with high profile customers on site.
Minimum requirements:
- Min 10 years work related experience with excellent 3PL/Logistics Operations Knowledge. As solutions operational background is essential.
- Min 5 Years Senior Operational Management experience of which 3 years in successfully running a large Multi User Operation
- Significant budgeting and financial reporting exposure
- Strong leadership, with the ability of achieving and exceeding business goals
- Ability to lead and motivate direct reports
- Highly motivated with a positive attitude
- High organizational skills with the ability to plan and manage own time
- Strong Stock/Inventory skills
- Ability to communicate at all levels within the business and deliver presentations effectively
- Sound I.T. & Administrative skills
- Possess a full driving licence
- Forwarding or relevant trade qualification
