Job Position

One of Irelands leading transport providers is now seeking a General Manager to lead the establishment of a new Freight Forwarding division with an initial target turnover of €3-5m turnover to be achieved in 5 years.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual with the industry knowledge, drive and ambition to establish a best practice, technology-driven freight forwarder.

Whilst initially employed as a General Manager, the company anticipate the successful individual we be appointed a Director or Managing Director of the division in time.

The company are seeking a well seasoned, multi-modal freight forwarding management professional with multi-disciplined experience within project management, industry certification, IT systems, carrier procurement, budgeting, sales and marketing. You should have a passion for the business with the drive and ambition to conquer the challenge.

Reporting to the Group Managing Director Logistics your key responsibilities and duties will include;

• Drafting of a business plan
• Agreeing a budget
• Manage the project roll out
• Identifying a location for the business.
• Recommending IT systems (freight management, customs, CRM etc.)
• Recruitment and management of key staff
• Establishing C&E, Revenue and settlement accounts with carriers
• Procurement and establishing lines of credit with carriers
• Branding and marketing
• Leading business development strategic planning and execution along with business development team
• Certification such as AEO, GDP etc.
• Ensuring compliance with all legislative requirements.

Minimum requirements:

• Minimum five years management experience within the Irish freight forwarding industry
• Extensive knowledge of multi-modal operations
• Business development and key account management experience
• Proven strategic planning and successful project management execution
• Strong IT skills and awareness on technology available within the industry
• Excellent knowledge of regulations and compliance
• Flexibility to work within a start up environment managing multiple priorities
• Excellent communication and team management skills
