One of Irelands leading transport providers is now seeking a General Manager to lead the establishment of a new Freight Forwarding division with an initial target turnover of €3-5m turnover to be achieved in 5 years.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual with the industry knowledge, drive and ambition to establish a best practice, technology-driven freight forwarder.
Whilst initially employed as a General Manager, the company anticipate the successful individual we be appointed a Director or Managing Director of the division in time.
The company are seeking a well seasoned, multi-modal freight forwarding management professional with multi-disciplined experience within project management, industry certification, IT systems, carrier procurement, budgeting, sales and marketing. You should have a passion for the business with the drive and ambition to conquer the challenge.
Reporting to the Group Managing Director Logistics your key responsibilities and duties will include;
- Drafting of a business plan
- Agreeing a budget
- Manage the project roll out
- Identifying a location for the business.
- Recommending IT systems (freight management, customs, CRM etc.)
- Recruitment and management of key staff
- Establishing C&E, Revenue and settlement accounts with carriers
- Procurement and establishing lines of credit with carriers
- Branding and marketing
- Leading business development strategic planning and execution along with business development team
- Certification such as AEO, GDP etc.
- Ensuring compliance with all legislative requirements.
Minimum requirements:
- Minimum five years management experience within the Irish freight forwarding industry
- Extensive knowledge of multi-modal operations
- Business development and key account management experience
- Proven strategic planning and successful project management execution
- Strong IT skills and awareness on technology available within the industry
- Excellent knowledge of regulations and compliance
- Flexibility to work within a start up environment managing multiple priorities
- Excellent communication and team management skills
