The Transport Planner is responsible for planning transportation from the manufacturing site. This involves overseeing the delivery at each level from container bookings, port arrival, receipt at the 3PL warehouses and delivery. The Transport Planner will ensure demand and capacity are aligned and service levels are achieved. This is a customer-facing operational role, the Transport Planner will oversee preferred partners for the business that support the fulfilment of its strategic objectives.

Role Deliverables:

  • Responsible for ocean, road and rail freight procurement
  • Identify and assess customer’s needs to ensure they are satisfied
  • Ability to file import and export clearance
  • Ability to create tenders (Request for proposal, request for quotation and contract award)
  • Effective planning & scheduling of containers, taking action to eliminate risks such as demurrage charges at port and communicate accordingly
  • Issue forecasts to transport and 3PL warehouse partners of container loads to safeguard ample capacity to meet business requirements
  • Routine meetings with the Distribution manager to ensure containers are pulled as planned to match bookings
  • Analyse freight costs for accuracy and upload to procurement express system/ Movex
  • Ensure export documentation is compliant with customs requirements and regulations
  • Liaise with companies' 3PL Distribution centres in the event of issue resolution on inbound loads or additional capacity required
  • Establish transport KPls and score card for transport partners
  • Lead monthly/ quarterly business reviews with transport partners and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Facilitate the development of service-level agreements and contracts liaising with Supply Chain management, Legal and procurement
  • Validate customer vendor manuals and ensure that freight solution complies with requirements on packaging, labelling, lead-time etc.
  • Support Business Transportation planning and ERP implementation project

This is not an exhaustive list and may be subject to change and amendment. As this role will be part of a dynamic and growing team, there will be times when the Transport planner will support peers during absences.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • 3+ years experience in transport/Logistics capacity managing FMCG / pharma operation
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • SAP Hanna experience advantageous
  • Customer-first attitude, driving results through others to achieve best-in-class service levels
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills and superior time management skills
  • Extensive experience working with transport providers
  • Experience developing commercial contracts and service-level agreements
  • Experience with customs import/export procedures and shipments overseas and exports documentation compliance
  • Experienced with incoterms
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability

Type:    
Full-time Permanent, Hybrid, Monday - Friday 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM (Hybrid structure, 3 days in the office and 2 days from home)

Salary:                     
€35,000 - €50,000 (DOE)
