This is a key team member position within a busy forwarding department, responsible for the coordination of road freight to meet customer requirements. The successful candidate will manage the organisation of road transportation between set destinations, utilising both internal and third-party resources.
Responsibilities
- Receiving and processing customer freight requirements, both directly and via third-party agents
- Creating and maintaining job files on internal IT systems, including accurate entry of customs rates
- Updating job files to reflect changes and liaising with customers as required
- Handling inbound and outbound queries and correspondence within the department
- Dealing with hauliers for trailer bookings, both inbound and outbound
- Creating invoices and entering accruals onto internal systems to ensure accurate and timely billing
- Liaising with the finance team on invoice queries
- Daily planning and routing of UK and European trailers
- Creation of Advice of Arrivals, Deliveries, PODs, Manifests, and CMRs for drivers
- Daily use of the Azyra system, ensuring accurate and timely entry
- Undertaking general administrative duties including filing and report creation
- Proactively seeking process and system improvements to enhance customer service
- Collaborating with warehousing, management, and other departments to meet KPIs and customer SLAs
- Working in accordance with all company Health & Safety and compliance requirements
Requirements
- Minimum of three years' experience in a shipping, freight forwarding, or transport role
- Proficient in Microsoft Office packages
- Strong customer service skills with a proactive and commercial approach
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and build strong internal and external relationships
- Ability to work to deadlines and manage the demands of the role
- Strong multitasking ability with a calm and flexible approach
- Well-organised with the ability to prioritise workload effectively
- Enthusiastic about learning and progression
- Capable of working with minimal supervision
