A large Cork-based industrial group are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to shape and embed a robust health and safety culture across the business. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive health and safety function from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of a Group Health & Safety strategy. (Using the ISO45001 framework).
  • Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies and procedures in line with HSE legislation and industry best practices.
  • Act as the organisations subject matter expert on all health, safety, and compliance matters.
  • Conduct risk assessments, develop safe systems of work, and ensure compliance with legislation and industry best practice.
  • Oversee site-specific H&S initiatives across all locations in Cork and Dublin.
  • Deliver staff training and toolbox talks on health & safety, manual handling, PPE use, traffic management, etc.
  • Monitor and improve site safety in relation to vehicle movement, pedestrian safety, storage practices, and space management.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits, identifying hazards and ensuring corrective actions are taken.
  • Investigate and report on accidents, incidents, and near misses, implementing preventative measures.
  • Maintain and regularly update H&S documentation, including policies, procedures, and risk registers.
  • Liaise with external agencies, auditors, insurance companies, and regulatory bodies as required.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture by engaging with staff at all levels to drive awareness and accountability.

Experience, Qualifications and Skills:

  • +3 years experience in a similar Health & Safety role, ideally within distribution, logistics, warehousing, or manufacturing.
  • Experience in the ISO 45001 management system and its use in H&S auditing along with knowledge of ISO 9001.
  • Relevant Health & Safety qualification (e.g., Higher Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, IOSH, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience establishing or significantly enhancing a H&S function
  • Strong understanding of relevant H&S legislation and best practice.
  • Experience in staff training and the delivery of H&S inductions and materials.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and health and safety reporting software.
  • Full driving license and willingness to travel between locations.
