North Dublin-based freight forwarder now seeks an experienced Import Customs Broker with responsibility for the daily execution of customs clearance for ocean freight (FCL/LCL). This is a hands-on, high-volume role focused on accurate data entry, timely submissions to avoid port storage, and direct communication with carriers and customs authorities.

Key Responsibilities;;

  • Process and submit import declarations (SAD/AIS) for FCL and LCL shipments using Azyra & Thyme IT customs software.
  • Ensure all mandatory Entry Summary Declarations (ENS) are lodged pre-arrival or pre-loading to meet the safety and security requirements.
  • Monitor vessel arrivals to ensure clearance is completed before the expiration of "free time" to avoid demurrage and detention fees.
  • Creating and discharging T1 documents
  • Complete reporting for both the Customer & Revenue.
  • Coordinate with warehouse suppliers and de-consolidation points to ensure individual consignments are cleared and released for final delivery.
  • Calculate applicable taxes, send duty/VAT estimates to clients, and ensure payment is secured or secured via deferment accounts before shipment release.
  • Review commercial invoices, packing lists, and Bills of Lading to ensure they match physical goods descriptions and meet EU 2026 standards.
  • Process commercial imports that are now subject to duty.

Required Qualifications & Skills;

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on customs clearance experience in a customs brokerage or freight forwarding environment utilising Thyme IT and ideally Azyra FMS.
  • Proficiency with EU TARIC for commodity classification and national customs portals.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, shift-based environment to meet strict carrier and port deadlines.
  • Solid understanding of Incoterms® 2020 and the Union Customs Code (UCC).
  • Completion of a Practical Customs Declaration course or equivalent vocational training.
  • Familiarity with Special Procedures like Inward Processing (IP) or Customs Warehousing (CW).
