Target Applicant: Min 3 years Import Customs experience within a forwarding NOT parcels environment

An established international logistics company is seeking an experienced Import Customs Clerk to support end-to-end import customs clearance activities. There will also be export customs clearance and some forwarding responsibilities associated with the role, with training provided where required. Please note that a 5-year background check will be required as part of the pre-employment process. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Irish import customs clearance processes from start to finish using AIS (Automated Import System), ensuring accuracy, and managing the full clearance process. 
  • Carrying out due diligence on all import documentation to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Contacting consignees for POA, collecting duty/VAT charges and handling any related follow-ups or queries. 
  • Liaise with customers, carriers, customs authorities, and internal teams regarding shipment status and customs requirements.
  • Provide updates to customers and resolve customs-related issues proactively.
  • Support export customs clearance and freight forwarding activities during holiday cover and busy operational periods.
  • Ensure compliance with Irish and EU customs regulations, tariffs, classifications, and company procedures.
  • Work closely with finance and operations teams to ensure timely invoicing and accurate job management.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Min 3 years of experience in a similar customs role in Ireland is essential.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Irish import customs clearance procedures
  • Proven experience using the AIS (Automated Import System) for customs declarations
  • Strong knowledge of EU and Irish customs regulations, tariffs, and classification
  • Experience managing complex import documentation and resolving customs queries
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple shipments under time pressure
  • High attention to detail and a strong compliance mindset
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to liaise with brokers, authorities, and internal stakeholders
