As an established leader in our industry, dedicated to providing efficient transport solutions, our client, a transport company based in Co. Monaghan, seeks an Experienced International Transport Planner to join their dynamic team. 

This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of clients fleet, optimising efficiency, and maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plan workloads ensuring compliance with driver’s hours and working time directive legislation.
  • Utilise geographical knowledge to maximise fleet efficiency.
  • Conduct effective planning to minimise running costs.
  • Supervise and manage driver workloads.
  • React to route planning changes promptly, facilitating re-routing as necessary.
  • Provide detailed and accurate handovers to the next shift when required.
  • Maintain clear and constant communication with drivers.
  • Ensure drivers are allocated correct jobs and are punctual.
  • Address driver queries face-to-face and via telephone promptly.
  • Collaborate within a team of planners to achieve common goals in servicing our client base.
  • Plan drivers' work to align with vehicle periodic maintenance and defect repairs.
  • Liaise with Site Managers to obtain and provide key information such as estimated times of arrival (ETAs).
  • Escalate any customer or driver issues to the Transport Manager promptly.
  • Undertake any other duties as assigned by the Transport Manager.

Minimum requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Transport Planner within a busy, fast-paced transport office 
  • Previous experience planning routes -IRL/UK/EU
  • Proficient in driver management.
  • Solid understanding of Transport operating systems.
  • Knowledge of tachograph regulations.
  • Ability to organise workload in a consistent and methodical manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on relationship building and effective communication.
  • Capable of planning, prioritising, and working to deadlines independently and with initiative.
  • High levels of drive, enthusiasm, and meticulous attention to detail.
  • IT literate with proficiency in relevant software and systems.
