This role is responsible for managing inventory availability, accuracy, and stock planning within a fast-paced operational environment. The position combines inventory planning responsibilities with oversight of stock control activities and supervision of warehouse inventory processes.
The successful candidate will ensure stock levels align with business demand, maintain accurate inventory systems, and support operational continuity when required. This is a hands-on role requiring strong organisational capability, attention to detail, and the ability to work across planning and warehouse operations functions.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Planning & Management
- Maintain responsibility for inventory availability and accuracy across the business
- Forecast stock requirements using sales trends, seasonality, and project demand
- Coordinate with internal forecasting teams and suppliers to support timely replenishment
- Monitor slow-moving and excess stock, implementing corrective actions where required
- Ensure inventory records remain accurate across warehouse and ERP systems
Stock Control & Team Oversight
- Supervise day-to-day stock control activities and warehouse inventory processes
- Set operational priorities and ensure stock movements are accurately recorded
- Provide training, support, and performance oversight where required
- Investigate stock discrepancies and implement corrective actions
- Act as a point of escalation for inventory-related operational issues
Warehouse Operations Support
- Support stock control procedures across goods-in, storage, and dispatch functions
- Ensure deliveries are accurately processed and aligned with system records
- Work closely with warehouse teams to maintain organised and accessible stock
- Support stock counts, cycle counts, and inventory audits
- Promote efficient use of warehouse space and safe stock storage practices
Operational & Business Support
- Provide operational support during peak periods or resource shortages
- Assist with maintaining continuity of stock control operations when required
- Contribute to maintaining service levels in a dynamic operational environment
- Support ongoing development of inventory and warehouse processes
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to warehouse health and safety procedures
- Promote safe handling and storage practices
- Maintain a clean, organised, and compliant working environment
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Produce inventory and KPI performance reports
- Identify opportunities to improve inventory accuracy and operational efficiency
- Work collaboratively with sales and operations teams to align stock levels with business needs
Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience in inventory planning, stock control, or supply chain operations
- Experience supervising or coordinating operational teams preferred
- Strong understanding of inventory systems and stock management processes
- Experience within wholesale, distribution, logistics, or commercial environments advantageous
- Strong analytical, Excel, organisational, and communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving ability and attention to detail
- Strong ownership mindset and accountability
- Practical and solutions-focused approach
- Ability to balance planning priorities with operational requirements
- Adaptable and collaborative team player
- Comfortable working in fast-paced and evolving environments where processes continue to develop
