A well-known, specialised logistics company based in Dublin 24 now seek a Logistics Operations Specialist with experience within the last mile delivery logistics or transport. They are in an exciting stage of growth and development that will see the company double in size over the next two years. They operate a fleet of over 200 vehicles delivering nationwide.
They have also recently added warehousing operations to their range of services and operate a disciplined warehouse and distribution service that is tightly managed and fully compliant with agreed procedures and service levels.
Job Description
The Operations Specialist is a key person in the team who is responsible for ensuring that our clients’ service level expectations are exceeded every day. This is achieved via good operational planning, professional management of warehouse, customer service and driver teams and good communication with all stakeholders. The key remit of this role is to deliver the agreed service levels via excellent all-around management skills. This role reports to the COO and opportunities for career progression will be available to reward your success.
Key Responsibilities;
- Ensuring the agreed operational processes and procedures are implemented within the business units.
- Ensure that the warehouse operates at optimum efficiency and exceeds client expectations.
- Supervise daily warehouse activities including quality assurance, inventory control, space management, floor productivity, logistics and customer service.
- Develop and maintain relationships with the key stakeholders within the clients, suppliers and other stakeholders. Of particular importance is to maintain regular contact with key people within client organisations.
- Attending performance reviews with client stakeholders to review operational data; customer feedback; problems etc.
- Assist in the resolution of client escalations in the event of issues or problems.
- Assist in the oversight of the effective and professional management of all team members (warehouse team, customer service team and delivery drivers) including weekly 1-1’s with Supervisors and Team Leaders; regular catch-ups with team members etc.
- Ensure the full and effective use of the technology suite with particular emphasis on the WMS and full traceability of all stock inbound, held and out for delivery
- Reporting on the performance of the operation via daily, weekly and monthly KPIs
- Strong operational planning that focuses on both the current weeks and with a monthly, quarterly and annual view. Planning includes staffing requirements, layout changes, goods in & out processes, quality initiatives etc.
- Ensure a safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing standards and procedures and by complying with all regulations.
- Involvement in initiatives and projects that improve efficiency and/or level of service.
- Acting as a positive role model to others.
- Contribute ideas and suggestions fully at meetings and other opportunities
Core Competencies Required;
- A high degree of initiative & enthusiasm
- A skilled multi-tasker who can oversee receiving, storing, picking and distribution operations contracts.
- Comfort and aptitude for technology and in particular WMS systems (ideally Azyra or a similar cloud-based system)
- Strong attention to detail and high levels of confidentiality and discretion.
- Tech-savvy and is computer literate
- A strong commitment to continuous improvement
- Project Management Skills
- Comfortable with managing plans, budgets and reporting
Qualifications Required;
- Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience in a fast-paced warehouse and distribution contract management role.
- Experience of implementing warehouse SOPs
- Strong proficiency in WMS
- Good planning and organisational skills
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in logistics, supply chain management, operations management, business administration, or a related field.
