Mechanical Plant Fitter

A hands-on role suited to an experienced Mechanical Plant Fitter responsible for maintenance, repair, and fitting/welding duties across mobile and fixed plant equipment. Based at the Tullamore Depot, with travel required to various regional sites as necessary.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on plant and machinery including hydraulic excavators, boats, tractors, and cutting equipment.
• Perform fitting, welding, and fabrication tasks as needed.
• Follow daily instructions from mechanical management to support efficient site operations.
• Maintain accurate records including logs, reports, and fleet documentation.
• Work collaboratively with internal teams and external contractors for mechanical and electrical services.
• Support safe working practices, promoting health and safety at all times.
• Assist with sourcing and procuring parts and materials in line with procurement policies.
• Use fleet management and maintenance software systems to log tasks and actions.
• Work flexibly between the main depot and other regional locations as needed.
• Participate in all mandatory training and actively support equality and company policies.

Qualifications:

• National Craft Certificate in Mechanical Fitting, Plant Fitting, or a related discipline (or equivalent recognised qualification)
• Safe Pass and Manual Handling certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Welding certification (desirable but not essential)
• Full clean driving licence
• Familiarity with fleet maintenance systems or willingness to learn
• Health & Safety training (e.g., First Aid, Working at Heights) is an advantage
