This is a commercially focused Business Development role within the Ocean Freight division, combining 50% account management and 50% new business development.
You’ll be given support, pricing access, and leads — but if you need hand-holding, this won’t work. This role is built for someone who can open doors, build pipeline, and close profitable freight business consistently.
This role is not for order-takers, internal sales profiles trying to step up too early or BDMs who rely entirely on inbound leads. The client is seeking someone who is already winning profitable freight business, a professional who owns a number and can deliver it.
Pipeline quality over volume (realistic, closable business), conversion rate, gross profit generated, along with account growth and retention, will be the key measures of success.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a structured sales plan across the Irish market
- Generate new business opportunities across Ocean Freight (FCL/LCL)
- Manage and grow existing client accounts
- Build and maintain a high-quality, active sales pipeline
- Work closely with the pricing team to convert opportunities into wins
- Maintain ownership of margin, yield, and profitability
- Represent the business in the market — face-to-face selling is critical
Profile Required:
- Proven track record in ocean freight forwarding sales within the local market
- An existing network of customer contacts
- Strong hunter mentality
- Comfortable working autonomously in a field-based role
- Commercially sharp — understands pricing, margins, and carrier dynamics
