
The Ocean Freight Forwarder plays a pivotal role in coordinating and facilitating the efficient movement of ocean cargo for our clients. This role involves managing the end-to-end logistics process, collaborating with carriers, ensuring compliance with regulations, and delivering exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage ocean freight shipments from booking to delivery.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate shipments.
- Prepare and manage all required shipping documentation, including bills of lading, customs declarations, and certificates of origin.
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations and customs requirements.
- Verify accuracy of shipping documents to prevent delays and errors.
- Maintain strong relationships with carriers to ensure smooth operations and resolve issues.
- Provide proactive communication to clients regarding shipment status, delays, and any relevant updates.
- Address client inquiries, offer solutions, and provide excellent customer service.
- Coordinate transportation modes, including trucking and intermodal logistics.
- Identify and address any issues or disruptions that arise during the shipping process.
- Work swiftly to resolve problems, mitigate risks, and maintain service excellence.
- Analyze shipping routes and costs to negotiate competitive rates with carriers.
- Optimize cost-effectiveness while meeting client requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of shipments, costs, and performance metrics.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in ocean freight forwarding, shipping, or logistics.
- Strong understanding of international trade regulations and customs procedures.
- Proficiency in using freight management software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work under pressure.
