Long-established South Dublin Ocean freight specialist now seeks an experienced Ocean Freight Operations Manager. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will sit on the management team and supervise several operational staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day management of all assigned Ocean Operations staff 
  • Provide technical leadership to help resolve complex operational issues.
  • Successfully manage and drive the operational, financial, and quality KPI’s for your operational team.
  • Ensure compliance with quality and regulatory procedures in all aspects of the operation
  • Ensure full compliance with customs and brokerage.
  • Manage the financial performance of your operation to ensure the achievement of the Company’s annual financial targets.
  • Take leadership of Health & Safety in all aspects of your operation.  Maintain continuous focus on employee welfare with specific emphasis on Health & Safety, Hygiene and Housekeeping.
  • Motivate and develop your operations team through informal and formal mechanisms. (i.e. coaching, goal setting, mentoring, performance management, discipline, and feedback).
  • Deliver an effective/quality level of customer service.
  • Effective communication with internal and external teams and groups
  • Team administration to include the management of Annual Leave, Time & Attendance, etc.
  • Professional management of Customer Service throughout your team in order to ensure service levels fulfil or exceed customer expectations, thereby developing & enhancing long-lasting and rewarding business partnerships
  • Maintain an ongoing understanding of the customers business enabling the operation to develop proactively to meet and exceed customer needs.  
  • In conjunction with the Sales function, maintain and develop the existing relationships with customers (including where necessary, visits to current or prospective customers)  in order to continually explore and develop opportunities for adding value to the business for both the customer and the company.
  • Support the Managing Director in general and or ad-hoc project requirements.

Experience, Qualifications & Skills:

  • At least 5 years relevant FCL and LCL ocean freight industry experience.
  • People management & team leadership.
  • Customer-focused individual with the ability to understand customer requirements in order that operations solutions meet/exceed customer expectations.
  • Excellent technical skills.
  • Commercially astute with the ability to identify opportunities.

Terms: 
Full-time, permanent, office-based

Package: 
€65-75k + Benefits
