A well-established freight forwarding company based in Co. Louth is seeking an experienced Road Freight Forwarder to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to work with a dynamic logistics operation handling primarily Ireland and UK freight movements, with some European traffic.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing end-to-end road freight shipments for Ireland, UK, and European lanes
- Booking and coordinating collections and deliveries with hauliers and carriers
- Processing customs documentation and ensuring compliance with post-Brexit requirements for UK movements
- Liaising with clients, hauliers, and overseas agents to ensure smooth cargo movements
- Managing shipment data and documentation using the Azyra freight management system
- Proactively tracking shipments and resolving any delays or issues
- Preparing quotes and rate negotiations with carriers
- Maintaining accurate records and providing timely updates to customers
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and service providers
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years' experience in road freight forwarding
- Strong knowledge of Ireland/UK freight lanes and post-Brexit customs procedures
- Experience with Azyra or a similar freight management system is highly desirable
- Solid understanding of transport documentation (CMRs, customs entries, etc.)
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple shipments simultaneously
- A proactive, problem-solving approach
