Location: North Dublin
Terms: Full-time permanent, Hybrid, Monday-Friday, normal hours
Package: Up to €50k + Bonus, Pension, Healthcare & 25 Holidays

North Dublin-based European freight forwarder is now seeking a Road Freight Team Lead. Reporting to the Road Freight Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and guidance for a team of approximately eight to ten road freight operators. A hybrid working arrangement with up to 2 days remote working per week will be permitted following successful completion of probation and training. Professional development opportunities may arise over the course of employment and the successful candidate should be open to participating in courses or further development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities;

  • Day-to-day management and guidance for the road operations team of 8 operatives with potential for further short-term expansion.
  • Resource management and holiday planning.
  • Complete annual performance appraisals with team members.
  • Ensuring all performance targets are met for the road product.
  • Production of regular operational and financial reports.
  • Working with the road team and other departments to support the successful onboarding and retention of new customers.
  • Supporting the team with operational duties as needed.
  • Liaising with Warehouse staff and Management daily.
  • Provide and oversee the training of new staff as required.
  • Work with the customs team and operators to ensure compliant flow of customs-controlled cargo.
  • Contribute to the overall management and success of the company by the regular provision of feedback, insight and support to the wider management team as required.
  • Deputising for the Road Operations Manager when needed.

Candidate Profile;

  • Some previous experience leading a team, and at least 4 years total experience in Road Freight Operations are essential.
  • Some experience with customs processes is a distinct advantage.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining high attention to detail.
  • Excellent English language communication & interpersonal skills are required.
  • Good proficiency with Microsoft applications (Office 365 Suite) is required, and the candidate must be eager to learn other software used in the business.
  • Must be a team player, while also having the ability to use their own initiative in their job as the varied tasks of this role will demand.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills are essential.
  • Some flexibility of working hours may be required due to the time sensitive nature of the industry and our clients, especially to deal with emergencies.
  • Some proficiency in German, Spanish, French or Dutch would be an advantage. 
  • A third-level qualification, especially in a relevant area, would be an advantage but not an essential requirement.
