A leading North Dublin freight forwarder now seeks an experienced Road Freight Operations Manager for the role of Road Freight Product Manager. You will be responsible for driving and developing the strategic vision for road freight services. This role will oversee procurement & pricing strategies, Carrier management and solution design to ensure operational excellence and enhanced profitability of the Road product. The Road Product Manager will work closely with Sales and Operational teams to support customer needs and ensure the budget is met.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Manage and monitor the P&L for the Roadfreight product in Ireland, ensuring profitable growth and margin optimisation.
- Lead budgetary planning and forecasting for Roadfreight; provide regular updates and variance analysis to senior management.
- Develop and execute the strategic vision for Roadfreight services in Ireland in alignment with group objectives.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across all aspects of the Roadfreight product via competitive procurement, Carrier diversification and solution design.
- Analyse internal and external market data/ trends to inform and set the direction for the Roadfreight product.
- Oversee & implement pricing strategies for tenders, rate management, and ensure competitiveness in the Irish market.
- Act as the subject matter expert for Roadfreight, supporting the Business Development team in identifying and winning new business opportunities.
- Oversee the onboarding of new clients and ensure a smooth transition and implementation.
- Ensure robust operational processes (including SOPs) are established and maintained with international and domestic partners.
- Develop and maintain key Carrier relationships, ensure Carrier SLA commitments are met and act as point of escalation if needed
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including group leadership, partner agents across UK & EU, and key domestic subcontractors.
- Mentor, train, and support Roadfreight teams in alignment with Operations Manager; assess skills gaps and drive talent development.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the Roadfreight and wider teams
- Represent Ireland at group meetings and industry events as required.
- Travel as required to support growth, operational excellence, and group initiatives.
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Roadfreight operations.
- Previous experience in a product management or P&L leadership role within logistics or freight forwarding.
- Proven experience in commercial negotiation and pricing.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and make strategic recommendations.
- Excellent communication, relationship management, and customer service skills.
- Experience managing, coaching, and developing teams.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and TMS systems; Power BI experience an advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible and adaptable, with a strong work ethic and commitment.
- Relevant business, logistics, or transport qualification preferred.
