Sea Freight Operator

An established freight forwarding and logistics provider is seeking an experienced Sea Freight Operator to manage end-to-end ocean freight operations. The role involves coordinating import and export shipments, maintaining strong relationships with customers and overseas partners, and ensuring shipments move efficiently from booking through to final delivery and invoicing.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing sea freight shipments from initial booking through to final delivery and job closure
• Monitoring shipment progress and proactively addressing delays or issues
• Acting as a primary point of contact for customers, providing regular updates and high-quality service
• Coordinating with international agents, shipping lines, and service providers to ensure cost-effective and reliable solutions
• Arranging transport movements including container collections, deliveries, and haulage requirements
• Preparing and processing operational documentation, sales invoices, and supplier charges, resolving queries as required
• Handling rate enquiries and preparing competitive sea freight quotations
• Maintaining awareness of customs clearance procedures and documentation requirements relevant to sea freight operations
• Supporting the development and growth of sea freight services within the business

Additional Duties

• Providing operational cover within the freight team during periods of leave
• Supporting other departments with administrative or operational tasks when required
• Attending occasional customer meetings or site visits
• Assisting with internal projects and continuous improvement initiatives
