A Lift-On/Lift-Off short sea feeder service now seeks a Shipping Agent, based from their Dublin Port offices. The successful candidate will be responsible for reporting the vessels to the authorities before arrival, liaising with stevedoring companies for labour and cranes and overseeing the loading/unloading of the vessels. Ports involved will be Waterford, Cork and Dublin but the need to attend vessels is now managed remotely.  This represents an exciting opportunity for any individual looking for a challenging and varied career within the shipping industry.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ship Planning
  • Servicing Ships
  • Preparing loading lists
  • Liaising with Stevedores, customs, port authorities and customers
  • Communicate with the Rotterdam office to keep them up to date on ships status
  • Booking Ships in through the port authority
  • Dealing with vessel costings/invoices
  • Equipment control (interport moves, quay checks, daily gate moves)
  • Completion of vessel reports such as tally sheets/ship reports/export manifests
  • Feeder tank export bookings

The Person:

  • Previous maritime or shipping experience.
  • Excellent communication skills are required as you will be dealing with non-national crews, customs and port authorities.
  • Superior problem-solving and the ability to work on your own initiative is essential.
  • Fluent English is a prerequisite as is the ability to work unrestricted by any visa constraints.

Type:
Full-time, permanent, office-based. Official hours of work will be 09:00–17:30 Hrs however on vessel days, there may be a requirement to deal with stevedores/vessels outside office hours by email/mobile.

Package:
 €35,000 - €40,000 with Contributory Pension
