Our client, a well-established international freight forwarding company, is seeking an ambitious and energetic Short Sea Operations Coordinator to join their growing operations team in Dublin 11. This is an excellent opportunity for an up-and-coming freight forwarding professional who is looking to develop their career under the guidance of a highly experienced and supportive Operations Manager. The environment is fast-paced and customer-focused, so the successful candidate will need to be organised, adaptable, commercially aware and capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate import and export short sea freight shipments from booking through to final delivery
- Liaise daily with customers, hauliers, shipping lines, overseas agents and internal departments
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with overseas offices, particularly in Spain and Portugal
- Monitor shipment progress and proactively manage any operational issues or delays
- Ensure all operational and shipping documentation is completed accurately and on time
- Provide a high level of customer service and regular shipment updates to clients
- Manage multiple shipments and priorities within a busy operational environment
- Work closely with the Operations Manager to support the smooth running of the department
- Maintain accurate records and update freight management systems accordingly
Requirements
- Min 1 years of experience within ocean freight forwarding, or short sea shipping operations
- Exposure to short sea operations would be a strong advantage
- Strong customer service and relationship management skills
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-moving operational environment
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Proactive, dynamic and eager to learn and develop
- Good problem-solving ability and attention to detail
- Experience using Azyra or similar freight management systems would be highly beneficial
