A large logistics company now requires an experienced Transport Manager to oversee and manage their Tamworth site, ensuring efficient, safe, and cost-effective delivery of goods and services in compliance with legal and regulatory standards. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage all drivers and staff, authorising their daily duties, Overtime and holidays.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage the daily operation of the team, supervising all the workload, including day and night drivers, breakdown callouts, audits, and inspections. 
  • Oversee staff training needs and requirements to maintain a high standard of work and ensure safe working practices.
  • Investigate and resolve incidents, accidents, or complaints.
  • Promote health and safety and adherence to company policies to ensure a high standard at the facility. 
  • Ensure that the team always adheres to all health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with transport regulations and licensing requirements (e.g., Operator’s Licence) and the maintenance of the fleet, including servicing, MOTs, and insurance.
  • Work closely and build strong relationships with the traffic planning office, garage workshop, and driver management team, all based in Ireland.
  • Monitor and optimise routing, scheduling, and delivery times.
  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle use, fuel consumption, maintenance, and driver logs.
  • Liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal departments to ensure timely delivery and high service levels.
  • Prepare and submit weekly payroll files to accounts.
  • Ensure that invoicing of all work is monitored and approved on an ongoing basis, daily & weekly.
  • Manage transport budgets, including cost control and reporting.

Experience, Education & Skills;

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a transport, logistics, or fleet management role.
  • International transport managers' licence and CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) qualification
  • Proven experience managing a team and working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with transport compliance and fleet safety systems.
  • Knowledge of transport legislation and fleet compliance.
  • Strong organizational and logistical planning skills.
  • Leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • IT proficiency, including fleet management and route optimization software.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver’s license (HGV license may be advantageous).
