You'll report to and collaborate closely with the Managing Director, taking charge of executing our transport strategy to ensure profitability through operational efficiency and excellence.

This dynamic role is pivotal to our business, focusing on the day-to-day management of transport operations and the workforce. We're seeking an individual with a customer-centric mindset and a strong focus on cost efficiency to drive profitable growth.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders to align business demand with transport plans.
  • Working closely with transport teams to achieve customer service goals and meet service level agreements.
  • Managing driver schedules and supporting staff rotas.
  • Effectively resolving any staff or customer issues.
  • Ensuring compliance with RSA regulations for vehicles and drivers.
  • Administering transport paperwork promptly, including drivers' daily time sheets, job updates, and Proof of Delivery (POD).
  • Ensuring adherence to health and safety requirements.
  • Understanding and updating customers’ systems and their Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to our operation.
  • Managing vehicle maintenance, reporting damages/repairs, and ensuring completion of drivers' daily checklists.
  • Supervising staff and fostering cross-functional cooperation with other departments.
  • Monitoring and analyzing key performance indicators to identify areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions to optimize planning processes.
  • Conducting periodic profit and loss (P&L) analyses to support the profitability of all activities, taking corrective actions as necessary.
  • Identifying and supporting the implementation of innovative technologies and tools to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of transport planning.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree, preferably in supply chain/logistics/transport management or business.
  • Professional Transport Manager Certification with a minimum of 3 years' experience desired.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategically improving fleet service and efficiency to meet required customer SLAs.
  • Commercial acumen and a track record of responding innovatively to customer requirements, RFQs, and onboarding customers.t.
