Our Client an established Freight Forwarder based in Monaghan is now looking for an experienced Transport Planner to join their team.

Job Title:  Transport Planner
Location: Co.Monaghan
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent position

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan workloads ensuring compliance with driver’s hours and working time directive legislation.
  • Using geographical knowledge to maximise the fleet ability to work efficiency
  • Effective planning to minimise running costs
  • Supervising and managing driver workloads
  • Reacting to route planning changes when needed and re-routing
  • Responsible for providing a detailed and accurate handover to the next shift if required
  • Maintaining driver communication
  • Ensuring drivers have the correct jobs
  • Ensuring drivers are on time
  • Responsible for driver queries face-to-face and via telephone
  • Working within a team of planners, to achieve the common goal of effectively servicing our current client base
  • Planning driver's work to align to vehicle periodic maintenance and defect repairs
  • Liaise with Site Managers, to obtain and provide key information such as ETAs
  • Escalating any customer issues and drivers’ issues to the Transport Manager
  • Any other duties assigned by the Transport manager.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience working as a Transport Planner within a busy, fast-paced transport office, (Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role)
  • Driver management
  • A solid understanding of Transport operating systems
  • A knowledge of tachograph regulations
  • Able to organise workload in a consistent and methodical way
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, relationship building and a strong communicator.
  • Ability to plan, prioritise, work to deadlines, without supervision and on their own initiative

Days and Hours of Work:

  • Monday - Friday 8 - 5:30 PM (Flexibility required)
  • You will be required to work 1 weekend day (Saturday or Sunday) every 3 weeks. You will be compensated for this work.

Salary: €40,000 - €50,000 per year (DOE)
