Key team member within the forwarding team in the coordination of freight to meet our customer requirements. Responsible for organising the Road transportation of freight between set destinations using either internal or 3rd party resources.
Duties:
- Receive and process customer requirements (directly or via third parties), creating and updating job files accurately, including customs rates
- Liaise with customers, hauliers, and internal teams to manage freight changes, trailer bookings, and daily UK/European routing
- Handle departmental queries and correspondence, inbound and outbound
- Prepare shipping and transport documentation (Advice of Arrival/Delivery, PODs, manifests, CMRs)
- Create invoices, enter accruals, and work with finance to resolve invoice queries and ensure profitable, timely billing
- Maintain accurate daily use of internal systems (including Azyra)
- Complete administrative duties, reporting, and filing to support forwarding operations
- Support continuous process improvement and assist the wider team to meet KPIs and customer SLAs
- Undertake additional duties as required to meet business needs
Skills & attributes:
- Minimum of three years’ experience in a shipping / freight forwarding / transport role
- Proficient in Microsoft Office packages
- Strong customer service skills
- Proactive and commercial approach
- Excellent communication skills written and verbal
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work in a team and develop strong working relationships internally and externally
- Able to work to deadlines and meet the demands of the role
- Ability to multi-task with a calm and flexible approach
