A newly established Air Freight Forwarder now require experienced Airfreight Operators with recent Import or Export experience. This is a great opportunity to join a new company with an experienced management team within the Irish airfreight market. The usual core duties and responsibilities will include;

  • Ensure all export/import Airfreight shipments are expedited in a professional and timely manner.
  • Updating and maintaining logs/systems.
  • Log, investigate and resolve customer queries in a timely manner.
  • Liaise with airlines in a professional manner in order to meet operational requirements and to maintain up-to-date schedule information and shipment status reports.
  • Day to day Airfreight operations to include dealing with customers/customs clearance/ airlines & other reports and administration duties.
  • Ensure all quality controls procedures are updated and adhered to.
  • Investigating and planning the most appropriate route for a shipment, taking into account the perishable or hazardous nature of goods, cost, transit time and security
  • Negotiating Airfreight contracts, transportation and handling costs
  • Obtaining, checking and preparing documentation to meet customs and insurance requirements, packing specifications, and compliance with other countries' regulations and fiscal regimes
  • Arranging insurance and assisting the client in the event of a claim
  • Arranging payment of freight and other charges or collection of payment on behalf of the client
  • Utilising e-commerce, internet technology and satellite systems to enable real-time tracking of goods
  • Acting as broker in customs negotiations worldwide to guide the freight efficiently through complex procedures
  • Dealing with special arrangements for transporting delicate cargoes, such as medical devices, food and pharmaceuticals
  • Arranging courier and specialist hand-carry services if required.
  • Maintaining communication and control through all phases of the journey
  • Production of management reports, statistical and unit-cost analysis
  • Maintaining current knowledge of relevant legislation, political situations and other factors that could affect the movement of freight.

Experience, Education & Skills:

  • Must have a minimum of 2 years recent relevant air freight operations experience within a freight forwarding company.
  • Ideally a FIATA/IATA Diploma graduate or equivalent logistics education.
  • Knowledge of moving dangerous goods and customs procedures.
  • Confident communicator.
  • Excellent IT skills ideally with experience of Azyra FMS.
  • Possess a positive customer focus.
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent time keeping skills.
