Long Established Irish family-owned Freight Forwarder, specialising in European Road and Sea Freight, now seek to hire an experienced Commercial Development Manager reporting to the Managing Director.
We are looking for a candidate who can provide demonstration of success in the core areas outlined below.
Preferred Competencies
- Experience in the freight industry in a senior role with responsibility for commercial direction & growth.
- Experience of people management – working with a team - ideally with experience of managing complex issues to outcome and managing a team to commercial, measurable success.
- Ability to quickly assess opportunities and business cases using data driven decision making.
- Experience of working with a management team, outside stakeholders, board members and internal teams to build & scale a commercially successful business.
- Knowledge (through experience) of the current opportunities & threats affecting this sector in the coming years and how these might affect or drive our growth ambition.
- Significant & demonstrable experience of negotiating and influencing decision making at senior level.
- Experience of success in building, retaining and growing customer cohorts that underpin commercial growth
The successful candidate will;
- Enjoy working closely with peers, challenging ideas and offering alternatives
- Enjoy the negotiation process, particularly at final stage agreements and be comfortable with pushback and outlining proposition benefits succinctly & clearly.
- Know how to manage, coach and facilitate a diverse Sales Team to develop skills, values and resources to drive their success.
- Have an excellent commercial understanding of the logistics sector, its opportunities and potential barriers to success
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of the key metrics for success in the freight industry and how these apply to day-to-day commercial activities.
